How To Make Fox Cake Pops

Everyone has their go-to Starbucks order that never fails them. Maybe it changes throughout the seasons but if it ain't broke don't fix it, right? Well, you might want to mix things up next time you hit up Starbs because fox cake pops are being spotted at stores, and they are the cutest thing I've seen in a while.

Cake pops are already arguably one of the best quick bites Starbucks has to offer. They're easy to eat on the go and are just the right amount of something sweet when you're hungry, but not

Cute

Hungry. They already come in a range of flavors like birthday cake, chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, and chocolate chip cookie dough. Now this fox-shaped pop is here to take the crown.

Happy Fox Cake

This new offering is just about the same size as a normal cake pop, but the shape is a bit different so that the finished product looks like it has ears. It's dipped in orange coating and has white and black details to make a tiny fox face that looks absolutely adorable on the stick.

A Starbucks location in California posted a picture of the fox cake pop next to the returning pumpkin cream cold brew with the caption Fall favorites, so that might hint at the fact that this cake pop is only a seasonal offering. It's also unclear what the flavor of the cake is, so if it's seasonal there's always a chance the cake is pumpkin spice-flavored!

It seems that the fox cake pops are one of those rare Starbucks items that are only available at specific locations, so you should definitely keep an eye out to see if your local spot is one of the lucky ones. Sure it's PSL season, but maybe we can rebrand it as fox cake pop season for a little while. I'm down if you are!

Cakesicles are great at parties or to add into treat boxes as gifts. If you’re new to making cakesicles and wondering what they are, they are sponge cake mixed with buttercream and coated in a layer of candy melts or chocolate, in the shape of a lolly. These are one of my favourite little treats, apart from cupcakes of course!

Starbucks Has Fox Cake Pops Now! They Don't Taste Any Different But It's Something.

For the caksicles I used a mini lolly mould. The gaps in the mould are around 4 x 7cm. The shape lends itself so well to creating animal designs. I then used white candy melts, and coloured some of these orange for the top of the head. I then added the detail on the front with coloured fondant, this included the ears, nose, eyes and some sweet little roses on the top.

As I mentioned above they were then filled with vanilla cake which had been combined with some vanilla buttercream to make the unmistakable cake pop texture. You could also use ganache or Nutella, you just want something that will help bind your crumpled sponge cake together for when you push it into your mould.

Fox

For these fox cakesicles I used candy melts for the coating on the outside, but you could also use chocolate too. The thing that I love about candy melts is they are so easy to melt and they don’t need to be tempered.

Place them in a microwaveable bowl and pop then into your microwave for around 30 seconds. Give them a stir and keep popping them in for bursts of 10 seconds until almost all of your candy melt buttons have melted. Then take them out and keep stirring. By removing them before the last of the buttons have melted this helps not to overheat them.

I really hope you enjoyed the tutorial and will find it useful if you want to create your own fox themed cakesicles. You can also check out some of my other cakesicle tutorials at the end of this post.
