Once you’ve gathered the ingredients and supplies for these frozen cake pops, follow these instructions to make your very own DIY cakesicles.

Start by making your favorite boxed chocolate cake mix. This makes it easy and they are ready to go in 20 minutes.

Melt the white chocolate in 30 second increments, mixing after each time to ensure smooth melted white chocolate when the chocolate is ready spoon about 1-2 tbsp of the melted white chocolate into the cakesicle molds and move the cakesicle mold around to ensure that the sides are coated.

Carefully push in the popsicle stick into the bottom of the cakesicle mold and place the mold into the fridge for about 10 minutes.

Remelt the white chocolate used to coat the cakesicle mold and then spoon on about 1-2 tbsp of the white chocolate onto the top of the cake mixture into the mold.

If you’re planning to enjoy these frozen cakesicles at a frozen or winter themed party, you’ll want to make them before party day. How far in advance can you make cakesicles? Fresh cake will usually keep for 7-10 days. You should count from the day you make the cake.

For this recipe, the cake is easier to manipulate if it’s a day old. Therefore, I like to make my cake the day before I begin making frozen cakesicles. After baking your cake, cover and store it at room temperature.

Completed frozen cake pops are fine on the counter for 2 days, but they’ll keep fresh in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.

Movie. I wanted to make something fun and special for her party but really didn’t have the time to put into something too crazy. These cake pops were just the thing.

Remember how I said I had never made cake pops? Well, I didn’t technically “make” these either! And let me just tell you, this hack is genius! I made 3 dozen cake pops in less than 15 minutes! See, now you’re intrigued!

So you want to know the big secret, eh? Well… these are donut holes dipped in chocolate with a lolly pop stick in them and coated with sprinkles. MIND. BLOWN. I know! However, I wasn’t fooling my niece, she walked right up to me and said: “I know this is a donut”. And she had absolutely no interested in the lolly pop stick, but she loved these Frozen Cake Popsjust the same.

Chocolate Cake Pops — Salt & Baker

Add 1/2 Tablespoon of frosting to the crumbled cake and mix together. Add more frosting as needed until you have a thick dough-like consistency.

Dip cake pops into the melted chocolate until fully coated, then place back on the cookie sheet. Repeat until all are coated.

Our recipe uses frosting to thicken the batter and allow you to roll it into balls. You really just need enough frosting for things to “gel” together.
