Turkey recipes may be the center of your Thanksgiving feast every year, but why not make it the star of Thanksgiving dessert table, too? These turkey cake pops are the cutest-ever sweet treats and they're the best way to end the best meal of the year. Our recipe calls for chocolate cake as base of these festive sweets, but if you're looking to fill your feast with pumpkin recipes, bake up a pumpkin cake mix to create easy spice cake pops. Then to decorate, use store-bought ingredients, like M&Ms, candy corn, ginger snap cookies and Twizzlers, to give a little personality to these adorable Thanksgiving cake pops. Plus this kitchen project lends itself to plenty of creativity: use any chocolate you have on hand, any cake mix you enjoy, even swap out the colors and candies if you want to make a different type of creature cake pop. Get your kids involved by letting them dip and decorate the cake balls and turkey faces any way they please!

In four easy steps, you can make the easiest-ever turkey cake pops to serve after Thanksgiving dinner. Turkey Cake Balls

In a 2-cup microwave-safe measuring cup or bowl, melt the chocolate on medium, stirring every 20 seconds, until smooth (about 60 seconds total). Dip each lollipop stick into the melted chocolate, then into each cookie ball; return to the pan and refrigerate until set, about 5 minutes (this holds the stick in place).

Remelt the chocolate if necessary. Working with 1 cookie pop at a time (keep the rest in the fridge), dip the cake balls into the melted chocolate, swirling to coat and tapping off any excess; then press the chocolate-covered cake balls onto a gingersnap cookie; place in the floral foam so they can set upright. Repeat with the remaining cookie balls, remelting the chocolate as necessary. Refrigerate until set, about 10 minutes.

For the eyes: Using a lollipop stick or toothpick, place a tiny bit of chocolate on the back of each candy eye ball and stick onto the cake balls.

For the nose: Cut M & M’s in half, dip the cut side in melted chocolate and place just under the eyes.

I love making cake pops for any occasion. They're so sweet and delicious, and you can decorate them for any holiday or theme. That's what I did with these cake pops for Thanksgiving.

This was inspired by my other snowman cake pops recipe on this site and makes the perfect sweet treat to serve with hot chocolate, my favorite Oreo frappuccino or salted caramel milkshake.

Thanksgiving Turkey Cake Pops!

Crumble the entire cake into a large bowl with a fork. Then, add frosting and work it into the cake crumbs with your hands until it forms a ball.

Finally, roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on a baking sheet line with parchment paper. Freeze the balls for 1 hour.

Then, using two foark, roll each cake ball in the melted chocolate, allowing the excess to drip off. Place the dipped cake pops on a parchment paper lined baking sheet.

Finally, dip the tips of each piece of candy corn in melted chocolate and place three of them on each turkey to create the feathers.

Hint: When melting your second batch of candy and oil, either clean out the original measuring cup or use a new one. If you simply add new candy and oil to the existing pre-melted candy, the remaining will harden.

To get a light brown color for your turkeys, mix a bag of white candy melts with about ¼ bag of light cocoa candy melts. Melt the candy wafers and stir them until the colors are well combined.

Dip the tip of a lollipop stick into the candy melts and stick them halfway into the candy pops. Dip the pops into the candy melts. Place them upright in a cake pop stand or a styrofoam block until dry.

When your cake pops are dry, spoon the remaining melted candy coating into a piping bag fitted with a small writing tip. (You can also just make a tiny cut in your piping bag and work without a tip.)

Place four pieces of candy corn on parchment or wax paper, so they’re fanned out with the white tips touching. Pipe your melted candy coating onto the white candy corn tips.

Lay a cake pop onto the piped candy corn tips and let it dry. The candy corn will solidify to the cake pop and form the turkey tail.

For the beak, use scissors or a knife to cut the yellow stripe off a piece of candy corn. Pipe a dot along the orange base and stick it just under the eyes.

Now it’s wattle time! Pipe a dot of icing on a heart-shaped sprinkle, then place it upside down on the cake pop so the pointed end is touching the side of the beak.

Mash up your favorite cake recipe and mix the crumbs with buttercream, using the same ratio as the turkey cake pops above (1 tablespoon buttercream to every 2 cups cake), until well combined.

Use a cookie scoop to portion the cake pop dough uniformly. Roll the dough into a ball, then gently press it into an oval. Make the shape of one end smaller, almost like a tear drop. (Just don’t make it too pointy!)
