How To Make Donald Duck Cake Pop

Today I’m sharing a simple recipe inspired by the duck himself. Brooklyn has been really into cake pops lately (I have to get her one almost every time I go to Starbucks), and I decided to make her some Donald Duck-inspired cake pops. I might be talented at some things, but making cake pops is not one of them. That being said, I think they turned out pretty cute, and if I can make them, so can you.

To start, you will need a box of any flavor cake mix and any flavor frosting. I used yellow cake and vanilla frosting, but it really doesn’t matter. You will also need the ingredients for the cake mix (typically eggs, water, and butter). Make your cake mix according to the directions and allow it to cool. Once cool, break the baked cake up in a bowl.

Add the entire can of frosting into your bowl of cake and mix. You want to mix until the mixture is similar to the consistency of cookie dough.

Now it’s time to make your cake balls. Each cake ball will be about the size of a golf ball; scoop out that much cake mixture and roll into a ball. Once all of the balls are rolled out, put them in the refrigerator.

While the cake balls are chilling in the refrigerator, you are going to melt royal blue candy melts. I sometimes have a hard time finding candy melts, but I can usually get them at Wal-Mart. Once your candy melts are completely melted down, remove your cake balls from the fridge. Get a cake pop stick, dip it into the candy melt, and press it into the cake ball. Do this with all of your cake balls; it will help hold the sticks in place.

Next, dip each of your cake pops entirely in the blue candy melts and then sat them down on wax paper. Before they dry and harden, add four pearl candies to each one (to look like Donald Duck’s buttons). Allow these candy melts to harden completely. Finally, take a thin red ribbon and tie a bow at the base of each cake pop stick.
