My kid's Barnyard Birthday Party was posted a couple of days ago, but already have a few emails asking me about the cake pop chicks, so I think you're gonna like this post! ;)

Chick Cake Pops Diy Instructions

I was inspired by a fabulously talentedfriendfrom Lynlee's Petite Cakes when I made these Hatching Chick cake pops - I remembered seeing Lynlee's similar idea using fondant sugar paste andpush-up pops on Bird's Party Magazine Issue 5, and thought I could make a similar chick but with cake pops instead!

Please ignore the lollipop sticks on the photo below -I was alsomakingapplepops at the same time and forgot that the sticks do not belong to this tute! :)

1) Mix cake crumbs and cream cheese until well combined and you cake make cake balls without breaking. Always add cream cheese a little at a time to ensure the consistency is ok. Then using an ice cream scoop, form balls with the mixture and roll on the palm of you hands. Set aside on a tray and refrigerate all the balls until firm - I actually put mine in the freezer for a few minutes whilst I prepaperd for the next step.

2) Cut off the tips of your candy corn - these will be the chick beaks. Melt the candy melts as per packetinstructions. Add a little rapeseed oil if the mixture is too thick (tip fromGillianat Crumbs of Comfort Cake Design), then using a couple of forks, dip each cake ball in the candy melts.

3) Whilst the cake ball coating is still wet, add the beak. Set the coated cake balls in the fridge or freezer until set, then remove and let dry at room temp before painting on the eyes using the black edible ink pen (pen won't work on wet cake balls!). Let dry and place each cake ball into a paper case.

4) Cut up rectangular, thin strips of the white sugar paste fondant of about 1 inch (2cm) in width. With a sharp knife, start cutting a zig-zag. Don't make it all the same height - this is meant to look like cracked egg shell.Wrap the fondant around the base of each cake ball and display the cake pops in a new, empty egg carton box. (I used brand new egg boxes to display them and just asked for some at my local store).

Bakerella Chick Cake Pops

* Use disposal aluminium trays to set your pops on - They are non-stick and easier to get the pops off once dry, and can just be thrown away afterwards - so no washing up!

Argo

* These cute cake pops can be made a couple of days in advance and refrigerated until the day of the party.

* Leave some cake pops without the white egg shell to make it look like some of the chick have already hatched! :)
