Learn how to make Mickey and Minnie Cake Pops. Tutorial with photos plus all the details of our trip to Disney World and Epcot.
We were planning on going to Disney World for my Little Cup’s 7th birthday in February. The weekend we were planning on going was just three days after the tickets for the Food Blog Forum went on sale. So I talked with Mr. Quart about postponing the trip and us all going to Orlando for the conference.
Lucky for us, we travel standby so there were no tickets to deal with. And, because we never really knowexactlywhat day we’ll travel on, we don’t book hotels until the very last minute.

We left on a Thursday so that we could maximize the three day park hopper passes that Disney was sogenerousto provide to the conference attendants. On Friday, we got up, checked out of the Disney Movie All-Stars resort, checked in to the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, got the conference info and park passes, and got going over to Disney’s Animal Kingdom!
We had never been before, so we jumped on the Kilimanjaro Safaris. My daughter LOVED it! She’s an animal lover and this was just perfect for her.
We came back to the hotel after Mickey’s Jammin’ Jungle Parade and while they went to the pool, I headed off to my meet n’ greet.

No… I did not get any of the Disney Cake Pops… I opted for a HUGE mickey chocolate chip cookie instead. But I thought there were pretty!
After a short nights sleep, I got up and set off for the conference and Mr. Quart and the Little Cup headed into Hollywood Studios. I loved receiving the constant texts and pictures from Mr. Quart of their day at the park. They had a great time watching the shows!
My day at the top and her day at the bottom. I’m honestly not sure who had a better day! Because at night, Kim (KCBakes)and I went on the Tower of Terror! Woo Hoo!!

Good thing we were guests at Whole Food for a scrumptious brunch and socializing with bloggers and their family members. The last giveaway of the conference was a KitchenAid Mixer – and guess who won… ME!! So needed it! So blessed!
We were at Epcot until the fireworks and then dragged ourselves back to the All Star Movie Hotel for one last night….
It was an amazing trip! The generosity of Disney was wonderful! There is no way that we would have been able to afford this vacation if the park passes weren’t included in the conference.

To make Minnie’s Bow, I used a mold from Ella, from Lollicakes by Ella(you can order many, many, many molds from her). I added the bows to the her head while the black was still wet.
Also, Ella taught me a little trick to get the black a bit more shiny – place the wet pop into the freezer for 30 seconds to quickly dry the pop. There was a lot less white streaking when I did it.

Easy Mickey Mouse Cake
One of our favorite things to do at Walt Disney World is to try all the different Disney snacks. From Pineapple Dole Whip, to Churros, to Corn Dogs...we have tried them all. A few weeks ago my husband and I took a day trip to Magic Kingdom.
While we were there we stopped at the Grand Floridian where we tried the large Mickey cake pop from Gasparilla Island Grill. Oh, my! It was so cute and tasted so good!
Not everyone has the luxury or desire to visit Disney World or Disney Land all the time or even once, so I wanted to show you how easy it is to recreate some of the fun Disney treats at home.

BRUCREW TIP: Only remove a few cake balls from the fridge at a time as you are dipping them. This keeps the other cake balls cool while you are working.
This chocolate cake pop recipe is easy to customize for different seasons or parties just by changing the flavor of the cake or color of the sprinkles.
BRUCREW TIP: For the large and extra large cake pops, you will need to make larger candy circles for the ears because the melting wafers will be too small.

I made the ingredients list so you know how much you need for the amount of pops you want to make, instead of making you make a certain amount of pops or having to due complicated mathematical things to figure out how much you really need.
Take your oreos and make them into crumbs. You can do that with a food processor or if you don't have one put the cookies into a plastic ziploc bag. Push the air out and zip the bag closed. Take a rolling pin and roll over the bag until the cookies are crumbs.
Now mix the cookie crumbs with the cream cheese until you get a dough like substance. Put this in the fridge for about 15 minutes.

Take a few big marshmallows and something to make small circles. I used an apple core remover thing (sorry don't know the correct term for that) Push out little circles.
Take your cookie dough out of the fridge and roll it into balls about the diameter of a big marshmallow or walnut. Put these on wax paper on a plate and put them back into the fridge.
Now take a really small bit of chocolate and heat it in the microwave for 30 seconds on half power (400 watt on mine). Stir, heat for 15 seconds and repeat until it looks like the picture below. Don't over heat it or it will burn and be useless to you. Now just keep stirring and the pieces will melt. If not microwave another 10 seconds and stir again. This should temper the chocolate so it hardens when it cools.

Dip a stick in the chocolate and push it into the cookie. If the ball becomes a little less round it's ok. If it is too much just reshape it with your hands.
Now take your mini marshmallows, these are the ears of course. Dip the marshmallow partly in the chocolate and paste one on both sides of the stick. Once again put the cookies in the fridge for 15 minutes.
While waiting on those cookies to cool, make the royal icing and temper the rest of your dark chocolate. This is not just melting so use my How to temper chocolate.

You need enough chocolate so that you can dip all your cookies in the chocolate all the way. Take the smallest deepest container you can find that will still fit your pop including ears. That way it will take the least amount of chocolate.
Take out your pops, dip them in the chocolate taking care to coat the ears but try not to coat the stick. Try also to do just one dip because otherwise the chocolate layer is too thick and there will be the possibility that the ears fall off. Let the excess chocolate drip off and then dip the pop half way into the red sprinkles. Put the pop back on the wax paper and into the fridge. Do the rest of your pops and put each back into the fridge as you make
