T hese are great fun to make. And they last a good while, as the buttercream keeps the cake very moist, and this is sealed in with a thin layer of chocolate. If you want to decorate them in a rush, just dip the pops in melted chocolate and scatter on sprinkles before it sets. You will need cake pop sticks.
First make the cake. Heat the oven to 190C (170C fan)/375F/gas mark 5 and grease and line the base of a 18cm round cake tin. Cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Whisk in the vanilla. Whisk the eggs in a separate bowl, then gradually add to the butter/sugar mix, whisking well after each addition.
Spoon into the prepared cake tin and bake for 15-20 minutes, until a knife inserted in the centre comes out clean. Then turn out on to a wire rack, remove the baking paper and leave to fully cool.

Meanwhile, make the buttercream. Cream together the butter and sugar until light in colour and fluffy. Add the vanilla and milk, and whisk again so that the consistency is softer.
When the cake is cool, remove any thick crusts, then use your hands to crumble it until it is breadcrumb-like. Add the buttercream, then whisk until well combined.
Use your palms to shape the mixture into balls of about 30g each; try to make them as smooth and round as possible. Place on a tray in the fridge for about two hours or until very firm.

Then either temper the white chocolate with some yellow food dye, or melt the yellow candy melts. You can do this in the microwave in short bursts, stirring well in between, or use a bain marie. Pour into a narrow, high-sided cup.
Dip the end of a cake pop stick about 1cm into the chocolate, then push this into a cake ball. Repeat and leave to set.
Then dip each cake pop into the chocolate, covering the whole surface of the cake. Let the excess drip off, then place upright (pushing the sticks into Styrofoam or similar works) and leave to set. If the chocolate in the cup begins to harden before you have finished, give it a quick burst in the microwave.

Then use some of the remaining melted chocolate to stick the orange candy melts round the outside. It will look like a flower now; you can leave it like this, or decorate it further to create a lion, using coloured fondant (glued on with a little more chocolate) and edible pen.is one of my 5-year-old’s favorite movies of all time. He’s only seen it maybe twice, but I know he’d sleep with it if he could.
Which might have something to do with the fact that the first stuffed animal I ever gave him was a huggable little lion…
Throughout his five years, our youngest has gone way beyond that very first huggable stuffed lion that became his sole lovey. He is now the proud owner of a roomful of lions. There are big lions, small lions, lion books, lion accessories, etc.

Everyone knows about his lion collection, so they give him another leo every occasion possible. But that first soft lion his chubby little fingers held in the crib is still the one he reaches for every night.
Guess what we do for his birthday cakes each year? Right. Last year, it was an ice-cream cake with a lion made of icing. I was reminded that I once made his brother these cutePuppy Cake Pops (that one’s got a puppy obsession.)
Everyone knows cake pops have become so popular these last few years because of how easy, attractive, and tasty they are. Though I make it a general rule to avoid boxed cake mixes and canned frosting, this is one of the verrry few times I’ll close my eyes, bite my tongue, and put those two things into my shopping cart. I thought about doing cake pops with homemade cake and frosting, but I ran clear out of time, so that will have to wait.

I used a fudgy chocolate cake, fudgy chocolate frosting, and peanut butter candy coating for these lion cake pops. It tasted like a Reese’s PB cup in cake pop form. A scrumptious combination that caused Hubby to grab a few extra when nobody was looking. I snuck an extra one, too. And so did a few of my grown-up friends. 🙂
These lion cake pops are as delicious as they are adorable! Irresistible with kids, yet adults will be competing for them, too! These are chocolate-peanut butter combination, but feel free to experiment with your favorite cake/frosting flavors.

Cake Pops (healthy + Easy No Bake)
How about these Chocolate Oatmeal Cupcakes (World’s Best!)… healthier and phenomenal tasting! You won’t taste the oatmeal, but they sure add moistness to the cake!I have loved the Cadbury Egg Bunny tryout video since 1987 (yes I had to look that up). The lion is my favorite character. I think he is so cute and Jo, from Cake Poppin’, made an amazing impostor lion cake pop!
Back again from the Cake Poppin kitchen with an idea that should bring back some fond memories. With Easter just a few weeks away, bunny ears are popping up all over the place, even where you least expect them and this little guy is no exception. Inspired by one of the most famous Easter commercials, the Easter Lion has become a familiar character through the years. Here’s a step by step on how to create him in cake pop form.
Dip your stick or paper straw into melting chocolate and insert it about half way into your cake ball. Once the chocolate hardens, this will keep your cake pop from falling off of the stick and provide some stability for the the cake pop. Dip your cake ball in the tan melting chocolate and shake off excess chocolate.

Wait about 20 seconds and before your cake pop is completely dry, attach one half of an M&M in the middle of your cake pop for the lion’s nose. Note: If your cake pop dries before you can stick on the nose, you can easily attach it using some extra melting chocolate.
To attach the mane of the lion, use a toothpick to dab a drop of chocolate on the top of the cake pop and attach an butterscotch chip. Continue this process until the mane circles completely around your cake pop.
Using the same toothpick and some black melting chocolate, carefully draw on the mouth of the lion. Then using white melting chocolate, dab on two drops for his eyes. Once the white part of the eyes are dry, go back to your black melting chocolate and dab on 2 smaller drops for the lions pupils.

To create the headband for the bunny ears, use your toothpick to draw on a thin line running from ear to ear of the lions face. Let dry completely before adding ears.
Once cut, there will be a sticky side that will be the front of the bunny ears. For a little extra detail, you can dip the sticky side into pink sanding sugar. Use a small dot of chocolate to attach the bunny ears to the top of your lion.
