How To Make Watermelon Cake Pops

Nothing says “bring on summer!” like watermelon. It’s always been a ‘must have’ at all of our family BBQ’s and picnics. I thought It would be fun to create a cake pop that resembles a slice of watermelon to bring along to all these summer get-togethers.

Dip the end of your sucker stick into the melted pink chocolate, then push it into the wedge. You’ll want to place your stick either at an angle, or at the tip of the wedge. It will be easier to add the “rind” if the stick is placed into the tip of the wedge. I also filled in any cracks or creases with the chocolate. This helps the end product look smoother. Chill until chocolate hardens.

Dip entire pop into the pink chocolate. Tap off any excess chocolate and place into your cake pop stand or Styrofoam block. Let dry.

Dip the wide part of the wedge into the melted white chocolate. For a more realistic look you can dip the ends in deeper to make a slight curve. Let dry.

Now dip the wedge into the melted green chocolate. Typically the green part of the rind is thinner than the white. If you curved your white chocolate make sure you do the same with the green. Let dry.

To make the seeds of the watermelon take your toothpick and dip the very end. You want the chocolate to ball up a bit at the end so when you place it down onto the cake pop it makes a round dot. Drag the toothpick downwards to make an upside down teardrop shape.
