Cream cheese coffee cake is perfect for breakfast or dessert! It is moist and ultra yummy. For a special treat try pairing this with Double Chocolate Hot Cocoa or Mexican Hot Chocolate.

Confession… Breakfast is not my most important meal of the day. I bet some of you are like me where mornings are crazy. So, something quick and simple is what it comes down to when choosing what to eat for breakfast.

Luckily my family gets together often to eat “breakfast for dinner”. Coffee Cake often makes the menu. It really is scrumptious and easy to put together!

Almond Cream Cake

It is soft, moist and full of flavor. The creamy glaze drizzled takes it over the top. This is definitely a recipe to add to your morning, or “breakfast for dinner” menu. Not going to lie – our family loves “brinner!”

WET INGREDIENTS. Cream together butter, cream cheese, sugar and eggs. In a separate bowl, combine milk and vanilla. Add to creamed mixture, stir until well blended.

DRY INGREDIENTS. Sift dry ingredients together and then add to creamed mixture. Mix well. Spoon mixture into 2-3 greased and floured cake pans (depending on the size of your cake pan. We used 2 because our pans were a bit bigger.

The Best Cream Cheese Frosting

To adjust the size and make these in a  9×13 pan or into muffins simply adjust the bake times. To be extra sure insert a toothpick into the center. If it comes out clean the cake is done.

For delicious VARIATIONS try adding fruit. Blueberries, sliced peaches or sliced apples. Note: The liquid from the fruit may cause the cake to be baked longer.

Nuts are also delicious; add sliced almonds, chopped pecans or walnuts to the top of the cake to give it a delightful crunch.

Cream Cheese Pound Cake Recipe

STORE cream cheese coffee cake in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days, or in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.

Remove any wrappings and REHEAT the portion in the microwave for 10 second increments until warm. To REHEAT in the oven, wrap the cake in aluminum foil. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and heat for 6-8 minutes or until warm.

Yes, that is what the recipe calls for. All-purpose flour will yield different results. You can use a homemade cake flour substitute, which is essentially adding cornstarch to all-purpose flour. It is not a perfect swap-out, but it will work in a pinch.

If you would prefer to make this in loaf pans, simply divide the batter between 2 pans and bake for 60-80 minutes. Start checking at the 1-hour mark. You want an inserted toothpick to be removed with a couple of crumbs, but no wet batter.

Pound cakes are best stored, wrapped in plastic wrap, at room temperature for up to 3 days. Storing at room temperature helps the cakes keep both texture and flavor. However, you could store it in the refrigerator for up to five days if preferred. To freeze the cake, double-wrap it in plastic wrap, followed by a layer of aluminum foil. It will last up to 3 months in the freezer. When ready to enjoy the cake from frozen, let it thaw in the refrigerator overnight (about 8 hours) before cutting and serving.

Great question! Let’s talk about what I did to create this Cream Cheese Danish Cake (which could also be called a Cheesecake Cake – very similar flavors).

For the cake layers, I knew I wanted to use my cream cheese cake layers from my Cherry Cheese Pie Cake. These layers are slightly more dense than a typical vanilla cake, but they’re still fluffy and tender. We’re using a stick of cream cheese and adding a full tablespoon of vanilla bean paste. The flavor is to-die-for!

Classic Cream Cheese Frosting Recipe

This cream cheese filling is essentially just cream cheese. We’re adding just a little sweetened condensed milk for sweetness. It’s not a lot because we want the cheese flavor to stand out here.

To top off this cake, I’ve made my cream cheese frosting with some vanilla bean paste. Remember, cream cheese frosting is not as stable as regular buttercream, so I don’t recommend trying to pipe with it. You can see I opted for a rustic look with this cake. Trying to smooth cream cheese frosting with a scraper can be tricky because the “cheese” element is sticky.
